What Is the SAP T004 Table?
SAP T004 Table stores the chart of accounts configuration used in SAP Financial Accounting. A Chart of Accounts is a structured list of G/L accounts that can be used by one or more company codes for recording day-to-day financial transactions of an organization.
T004 contains the important General Ledger configuration settings such as Chart of Accounts key, Maintenance Language, G/L Account Number Length, Group Chart of Accounts Assignment, Blocking Indicator and other settings that control the chart of accounts.
The Chart of Accounts and G/L Account master information is stored in different tables, such as
- T004: Chart of Accounts
- T004T: Chart of Accounts Description
- SKA1: G/L Account Master at Chart of Accounts Level
- SKAT: G/L Account Descriptions
- SKB1: G/L Account Master at Company Code Level
For Example:
Assume company code 1010 assigned to Chart of Accounts CAU10
When a financial document is posted to company code 1010, SAP system identifies the operating chart of accounts assigned to that company code.
If the user post to G/L account 50000, SAP check the G/L account maintained for the relevant chart of account in SKA1 and its company code specific information in SKB1.
After posting the document, the accounting document information is recorded in BKPF & BSEG tables.
SAP Consultants, users, and support team use the T004 table to review chart of accounts configuration, verify group chart of accounts assignment, analyze G/L account structure and troubleshoot chart of accounts related configuration issues.
