Material Descriptions
What Is the SAP MAKT Table?
SAP MAKT Table stores the language dependent materials descriptions in SAP. It links a material number (MATNR) with a language key (SPRAS) and the material description (MAKTX) is maintained in that language.
The same material number can have different descriptions in different languages. SAP can display the description in user’s logon language, when the corresponding language text is available.
For example:
Material RM100 may have the description Steel Sheet in English and Stahlblech in German. Both descriptions belong to the same material, but are maintained under different language keys.
SAP Consultants, users and report developers use MAKT to display readable material description in reports and review missing language specific texts.
